Have ancestor MACHEL (yes MACHEL not MICHAEL) Leighton who in 1881 census was recorded as a Joiner born in Kendal in 1830 and in 1881 was living with wife Ann and 3 children William Hy, Margt Ann and Mary Ann at 41 Lee Street Farnworth in 1881 Census along with Visitor Christiana Brew. (I believe this is in the Deane Parish)
Although we can find where the children went we can find no records of Machel either being born in Kendal around 1830 nor can we find where he went AFTER the 1881 Census as there appears to be no death or anything recorded and in later 1901 census the address is empty. There is also no mention of him or Ann in any later census...admittedly Ann could have died (there was one inb late 1880's) and Machel could have moved away or remarried but should still b somewhere...
We have tried searching for both Machel and Michael (can find a Michael in Kendal in 1830 who was a Carpenter) but no proof as yet that this is same as our Machel.
Can anyone help ? PLEASE
