desperatly trying to find info
according to the 1881 census ggaunt Elizabeth Priest nee Laing born 1856
was living at 155 Oldham Rd Manchester with Husband listed as Jas.W Priest (b 1854)occupation Carter
At the house next door (157) there lived a family named Priest ( assume could be related)
searched hi and low for both Elizabeth and Jas.W Priest on the 1901 census and could not locate either of them (both stated born Manchester).
Found GGuncle Richard Laing at 3 durham st North Manchester with his family but included in his family was a nephew named James Priest aged 12.
On the 1881 census it stated Elizabeth and Jas.W were marreid, I cannot locate marriage for them or a death. Could this James possibly be their child (born abt 1889) if so how do I find out what happended to parents and where do I go from here.

Regards
Elaine

Hi
Do you have this info from familysearch.org:

Children of Thomas and Sarah Laing

RICHARD LAING - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 30 SEP 1844 Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England

3. EMMA LAING - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 22 JUN 1851 Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England

4. ELIZA LAING - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 22 JUN 1851 Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England

Like you I can't seem to find that particular marriage.

Hi Elaine,

I've found a James Priest on the 1901 census age 46 b. Worcestershire, census place Rochdale and an Elizabeth Priest age 40 b. Staffordshire, census place Eccles.

Might be worth a look.

Regards,
Anita.

Thanks to Both George and Anita for their help.

Its worth a try looking at that particular 1901 census even though there is a slight difference in their ages.
